One very loyal policyholder was rewarded with a year’s free cover for sticking with the same insurer for over 50 years.
The customer took out a policy with General Accident Fire & Life on 1 April 1961 at a £11.16s for a building sum insured of £4,500 and contents of £2,500- note the proportion of contents to buildings.
The client stayed with their insurance broker and saw the policy underwritten through General Accident and Commercial Union merger to create CGU, the Norwich Union takeover and name change to Aviva.
Aviva provided a free renewal for 2011, saving the customer £908.57; now that is a very good reason for sticking to the same insurer!
