Not that long ago legal protection on Commercial insurance was considered ‘nice to have’, but in the current climate businesses really have to question whether they can do without it?
For a relatively low premium, sole traders, partnerships and companies can secure up to £100,000 of legal cover. What’s more the policy supplies a number of legal helplines covering tax, business assistance and counselling; a very useful addition if you don’t have an in-house lawyer or HR specialist.
The policy will cover:
- Employment disputes
- Legal defence, including health & safety criminal offenses; non motor criminal prosecutions arising from business activity; data protection; wrongful arrest; sexual, racial, disability and other forms of discrimination; statutory notices.
- Contractual disputes – amount in dispute must be between £250-£5,000
- Property protection and bodily injury
- Tax protection
We must stress that cover has to be in place before any incident occurs, so you can’t take it out to help with a current situation. There is also a presumption clause which states you must have a 51% chance of winning; so correct business procedures and good risk management are still of paramount importance.
It is rated on the basis of annual wage roll, so for a very competitive quote and more information about how this policy can help call Tony Cracroft on 0845 371 1452 or email tonycracroft@flintinsurance.co.uk.
