Not quite 007
After coming across a number of inconsistencies in an Aston Martin theft claim, an insurance fraud investigator went into James Bond mode. The policyholder, Mr E, claimed that the engine stolen from his 1969 Aston Martin DBS was original to the car – a loss to the tune of £30,000.
But something in Mr E’s version of events didn’t quite add up. Digging a bit deeper, the investigator discovered that his lovely car was just an Aston Martin shell, with a clapped-out Jaguar engine – worth far, far less than £30,000.
Puff the Magic Dragon?
The claims investigator thought that he was the victim of a practical joke when sent to investigate a public liability insurance case where the claimant had ‘slipped on lettuce, thrown by a dragon’; either that or they’d been on the sauce!! But no, all was actually in order, the client owned a Chinese restaurant; both dragon and lettuce throwing were all part of the celebratory dance.
