The client recently went on holiday to Ibiza and sadly had his watch stolen – the item was worth around £26,000. Due to the efforts of the Spanish police, the thieves were arrested, and the watch was subsequently recovered over 500km away in Barcelona.
Due to this, the client had to fly out to Barcelona to get the watch back as it could not be shipped to the UK, due to its high value.
Originally the insurer was going to cover the cost of the flights only, meaning the client would’ve had to pay for the rest of the trip. Ella asked the insurer to cover all expenses for the client as, if the Spanish police weren’t able to locate the clients watch, the insurer would’ve had to pay out £26,000.
The insurers originally declined this request but Ella pushed back and, with her negotiation skills and persistence, she managed to get the underwriters to cover the cost of the entire trip – including taxis to and from the airport, the hotel and flight costs. This saved the client around £2000!
The watch has now been retrieved and is currently being serviced before being returned to the client, in large part due to the outstanding level of service and effort that Ella provided.
