Home insurance – making a claim

Whether you’re claiming on your buildings, contents or both we’ll deal with it swiftly to make sure that your home is returned to normal as quickly as possible

In the event of a buildings claim:

  • Make sure that further damage is minimised and that the affected area is safe and habitable
  • Note the date, time and likely cause of the loss
  • Contact the claims line immediately to report the claim and receive specific advice from a specially trained claims advisor
  • Should you experience any further problems or queries contact your claims handler or the Flint household department.

What to do for a household contents claim:

  • Keep broken or damaged items because you may need to produce them at a later date
  • If your items have been lost or stolen, note down the time, place and circumstances of loss
  • You may be required to produce receipts or proof of purchase – so check thoroughly for these documents in advance
  • Contact the claims line immediately to report the nature of your loss and the events that led to it. A specially trained claims handler will advise you of your insurer’s procedures going forward
