7707 hits 265mph at Speedweek

Flint Insurance was delighted to learn that our valued client, Geoff Stilwell and his team recently achieved their aim of setting the landspeed record in the “Blown Fuel Roadster” class at the world famous Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah in the United States of America.

First used for speed races as early as 1912, this unique and ‘other worldly’ location creates a dramatic backdrop for Speedweek. Speedweek is a six day event popular with race crews and spectators alike. Spectators get the opportunity to walk around the pits to look at the vehicles and converse with drivers and crew.

It was during Speedweek at 8.08am, 15 August, this year that Geoff Stilwell drove the 7707 Salt Shaker Landspeed Race Car at an average of 258.679 mph over two runs.

7707 Salt Shaker is a 1927 Model T Rear-Engine Roadster that retains its original tin body and is powered by a supercharged, fuel injected 482 cubic inch, all aluminium engine. 7707 Salt Shaker achieved a top speed of 265.626mph.

Over the last six years Flint has provided travel insurance, including medical cover (for those racing both bikes and cars) for British Speedweek participants.
